HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices
Our commitment
RxMeds Specialty Pharmacy is required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect the privacy of your protected health information (PHI), to give you this notice of our privacy practices, and to follow it. PHI includes your name, date of birth, contact details, prescriptions, insurance, and anything you share with us about your health.
Information we collect on this website
- Refill requests: name, date of birth, phone and prescription numbers.
- Secure messages: name, phone, optional email, practice name (providers), subject and message text.
- Prior authorizations: medication, prescriber and status details shared by your provider's office.
- Deliveries: partial name, Rx numbers, address, refrigeration needs, delivery times and your signature. Label scans are read and immediately discarded — label photos are not stored.
- Patient portal accounts: name, email, date of birth and phone, used to verify your identity.
How patient messages are handled
Messages sent through our secure contact form are stored in our encrypted pharmacy system, where only authorized pharmacy staff can read them. They are never sent by email. Our team receives only a notification-only alert at care@rxmedsspecialty.com saying a new message arrived — it contains no names, contact details or health information — and staff then sign in to read and respond. Please do not use the form for emergencies — call 911. If you prefer not to send health details online, call us at (678) 705-5968.
How we use and share your information
- Treatment: filling prescriptions, counseling, and coordinating with your prescriber.
- Payment: billing your insurance and obtaining prior authorizations.
- Operations: deliveries, quality review, and staff training.
- As required by law, such as to public health authorities or in response to a lawful order.
What we never do
We do not sell your health information or use it for marketing without your written authorization. We do not use advertising trackers on pages where you enter health information.
How we protect your data
- All connections to this website are encrypted (HTTPS).
- Access is limited by role — drivers see only their active stops, providers see only their own patients, and patients see only their own records.
- Signatures and documents are kept in private storage and opened only through short-lived secure links.
- Status lookups require both your patient code and date of birth.
Your rights
You may request a copy of your health records, ask us to correct them, request limits on how we use or share your information, ask us to contact you in a specific way, receive a list of certain disclosures, and get a paper copy of this notice. To make a request, call (678) 705-5968 or visit us in person.
